Quality Enhancement and Accreditation
MusiQuE – Music Quality Enhancement is an independent foundation for quality enhancement and accreditation in
higher music education. MusiQuE has taken over the quality enhancement and accreditation activities previously organised by the AEC.
About MusiQuE - Music Quality Enhancement
MusiQuE is an external evaluation body dedicated to the continuous improvement of the quality of higher music education across Europe and beyond and, through its accreditation, quality enhancement and advisory services, to assisting higher music education institutions in their own enhancement of quality.
Although MusiQuE was formally established only recently, the review system it operates builds upon foundations that have been laid down by the AEC over more than a decade. Twenty-nine reviews were conducted, out of which fourteen were undertaken in cooperation with a national quality assurance and/or accreditation agency. These twenty-nine reviews involved many experts and resulted in the accreditation of over 40 programmes. Four successive working groups, drawn from representatives of higher music education institutions, were created to reflect on the procedures and review process, to design new tools to improve its relevance for higher music education and programmes and to formalize it in line with the European Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ESG).
MusiQuE offers a range of review and accreditation processes tailored to the needs of higher music education institutions:
- quality enhancement reviews for institutions, programmes and joint programmes
- accreditation procedures for institutions, programmes and joint programmes
- joint procedures with national quality assurance and accreditation agencies
MusiQuE Peer-reviewers Register
MusiQuE has established a Peer-reviewers Register, composed at the moment of more than 60 competent individuals from various AEC member institutions in several European countries, with expertise in various musical specialisms and broad language skills. Selected experts from the Register form the Review Teams that carry out the reviews.
