Survey: Work-integrated Learning in the Music Academy

In the framework of the project “Work-integrated Learning in the Music Academy” (WILMA), the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM) and the Centre for Excellence in Music Performance Education (CEMPE) at the Norwegian Academy of Music are launching a survey, which is part of their research collaboration.

The survey aims at gathering data from Higher Music Education Institutions (HMEIs) about their student internship programmes (also indicated as professional placements, practicums, or work-based placements) which are included within their curricula.

The main interest of the research is in at Bachelor, Masters or PhD level who spend time with a host organisation to gain work experience.  For example, these could be placements with an orchestra or other ensembles, an arts management organisation, a community music group, or even within the student’s academic institution. The internships considered in the survey could be national or international, but while work-based ERASMUS placements for students are eligible for inclusion in the survey, educational exchange placements and graduate placements are not.

To contribute to the research project, please respond to the survey by 31 March 2021.

More information about the WILMA project can be found on the dedicated webpage and in the CEMPE Annual (p. 48).
