RENEW Project Final Conference 2018 - Speakers announcement

The AEC is delighted to announce the opening speakers for the RENEW Project Final Conference 2018!

The Dutch 'eating designer' Marije Vogelzang will invite the conference participants to understand the world from the eyes of an entrepreneur. 

Nova Scotian Barbara Hannigan is a prominent soprano with many notable leading operatic roles and conductor of major orchestras. In 2017, Barbara created Equilibrium Young Artists, a unique, international mentoring initiative for young and new professional musicians to further their professional development and to elevate their overall musicianship. For the first season 2018/19, 21 participants will be chosen to perform over 20 performances with four partner orchestras in works including Stravinsky’s The Rake’s Progress, Mozart’s Requiem, and Stravinsky’s Pulcinella.

Amsterdam-based singer Nora Fischer is experimental with the conventional music genre, often creating innovative performances for a dramatic effect. Nora has an extensive baroque, classical and contemporary vocal repertoire, ranging from traditional concert programmes to "genre-defying collaborations". She was nominated by the Amsterdam Concertgebouw to perform in major concert halls across Europe for the ECHO Rising Stars Tour for the 2017/18 season.

Simon Stockhausen is a composer, sound designer and studied piano, saxophone, drums, synthesizer, and composition since the age of 5 and began performing with his father Karlheinz Stockhausen when he was 12. In 2009, he created the sound design website that offers several audio libraries, loops and custom presets for effects and many popular soft synths such as Serum, Reaktor, Absynth, Alchemy and u-he synths among others.

Peppie Wiersma is a timpanist, percussionist and was a member of the ASKO ensemble in Amsterdam from 1986 to 2008 and a soloist at the Radio Chamber Philharmonic from 1987 to 2013. Currently, she is the Artistic Director of LUDWIG, a collective of outstanding musicians and  Festival De Nacht van Electra, a one-night-festival inspired by the landscape in the beautiful region of Northwest-Groningen​.
