Classical:NEXT 2019 edition in collaboration with AEC

The 2019 edition of Classical:NEXT, from 15 - 18 May in Rotterdam, marks the first year of collaboration with AEC. With the classical and art music world reconvening in the Netherlands, AEC members can take part in cross-sector networking, the international expo and interactive conference, as well as enjoy the showcase concerts and presentations of projects and services from around the world. The upcoming eighth edition will place special emphasis on giving a voice to groups which are often underrepresented, be it in leadership, on the podium or in audiences.
The upcoming edition embraces the headline "21st Century Polyphony: More Voices, Greater Symphonies" by standing for the unification of the global classical and art music scene and enabling it to work collectively, effectively and with increasing relevance in today's ever-changing society.
As a new addition to the Classical:NEXT Conference Programme, 2019 will feature a Higher Music Education Pre-Conference on 15 May from 14:00 to 18:30 in cooperation with AEC. The topic is "Change" and the attendees of this pre-conference will work together to discuss the need for change and craft the tools, steps and exact methodologies to effect change.
A Higher Music Education Network Meeting will take place during the main conference on 16 May, as well as a conference session entitled "They don't teach you that at the conservatoire? Come Build a 21st century Conservatoire" chaired by David Bahanovich of the Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, London, UK, on 17 May.
