The Artistic Research School (ARS) will take place in the framework of the Music Diaries International Workshop Festival. The festival is organised by the non-profit civil society beArtive and is hosted by the Municipal Conservatory of Pylaia-Chortiatis. The ARS will take place online on 5-9 July 2021, but if the pandemic situation will allow it the course may take place in person.

ARS is a module developed in the University of Aveiro that aims to support the conception, development and dissemination of artistic research projects. Its purpose is to foster a perspective of artistic research as a trans-disciplinary field.

The module is designed for different profiles within the artistic research field:

  • Artists interested in developing postgraduate research based on the creation of new artistic ‘products’ that allow them to sustain their practice whilst developing new knowledge in music;
  • Artists interested in rethinking/developing old concepts or creating new ones for their artistic projects;
  • Teachers of performance or responsible for supervising academic projects that feature artistic production;

Topics such as the intersections between Artistic Research and career development, Artistic Research and funding possibilities or methodological issues will be covered.

The festival counts with Jorge Salgado Correia, (Universidade de Aveiro/INET-md, Aveiro, Portugal) and Gilvano Dalagna, (Universidade de Aveiro/INET-md, Aveiro, Portugal) as Chairs.
