Dear colleagues and friends,
Welcome to the AEC Newsletter June 2018! We hope this new issue will provide you with relevant information about the latest activities, projects and news within the field of Higher Music Education.
At the beginning of June 2018, the AEC Executive Committee met in Graz, Austria, to discuss and shape the short and long-term planning of the Association’s future work. This discussion was followed by an AEC Congress Committee meeting for further preparation of the upcoming AEC Congress in November 2018.
This year´s Annual Congress will carry the title of AEC´s new Creative Europe funded-project: ‘Strengthening Music in Society’ (AEC-SMS). The four-year project has taken off at a very interesting time, as the European Commission is now opening doors for establishing a European Educational Area by 2025, in order to strengthen the European identity and foster social inclusion through an increased contribution to the cultural sector. This coincidence will help AEC further develop and protect the interests of the Higher Music Education sector in line with the priorities set at European level.
We hope you all enjoy a wonderful and restful summer and return refreshed for the new session!
Our very best wishes to you all,
Eirik Birkeland - AEC President and the AEC Office Team
