The Faculty of Music accounts for over 600 of the higher education (HE) students within Trinity Laban and delivers programmes of study for students from pre-degree to doctoral levels through an innovative combination of practical and academic studies through which it seeks to impart in its students the skills needed for a dynamic and sustainable career in the music profession.
Integral to the Faculty of Music are the learning opportunities provided by the Faculty Departments, who deliver core individual and small group learning across each of seven disciplinary areas including Musical Theatre. The team of disciplinary teaching staff specialists associated with each Department exemplify the multi-faceted skillset of modern, international creative musicians and artists, and thus provide important exemplars for students.
The Faculty of Music is seeking to appoint distinguished, committed, and versatile individuals to contribute to the teaching of Musical Theatre at pre-undergraduate to undergraduate study levels on an hourly paid basis from 1 September 2017 in the following areas:
  • Musical Theatre Voice (121 Singing)
  • Dance (Jazz)
  • Dance (Tap)
Successful candidates will be widely recognized and highly respected industry specialists with significant experience and a distinguished record in teaching/delivering masterclasses/other relevant learning opportunities within the conservatoire sector or higher education sector widely.
Able to teach to an exceptional level of technical and musical competency, they will also demonstrate outstanding communication and organisational abilities, be able to provide effective support for individual student needs, and have the capability to deal with a busy and varied workload within a highly creative environment.

Integral to the Faculty of Music are the learning opportunities provided by the Academic Studies Department, who deliver core academic and vocational learning across all programmes of study within the Faculty. The team of Academic Studies teaching staff – many of whom also contribute to instrumental/vocal/composition teaching within the Faculty – each exemplify the multi-faceted skillset of modern musicians and thus provide important exemplars for students.

We are seeking to appoint enthusiastic, versatile and suitably qualified candidates to contribute to the teaching and examination within undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in the following areas:

History and context of music in the classical tradition (BMus only: long 19th and 20th centuries)
Audience engagement (BMus and PG: strategies and skills for the public presentation of music to live and/or digital audiences)
Music entrepreneurship (BMus and PG: music leadership skills; music business management and marketing; music industry innovation; arts and the digital economy; creating a professional portfolio)
Analysis (PG only: applied analysis for performers)
Psychology in Music Performance (PG only: applied psychology for performers)
Individual Project/Dissertation Supervision (BMus/PG)

The successful candidate(s) will be experienced and knowledgeable, and expected to contribute to the development and delivery of curriculum throughout the period of their appointment. Time commitments are negotiable – it is anticipated that two or more hourly paid appointments will be made.

The Faculty of Music accounts for around 700 of the higher education (HE) students within Trinity Laban and delivers programmes of study for students from pre-degree to doctoral levels through an innovative combination of individual, small group, ensemble and academic studies. Delivering over 350 student performances each year in a wide variety of concert venues across London, the South East and beyond, alongside a wide range of other audience engagement activities, the Faculty seeks to impart in its students the skills needed for a dynamic and sustainable career in the music profession.
Following the announcement of the impending retirement of Simon Purcell from the Head of Department role, the Faculty of Music wishes to recruit a dynamic, visionary and respected musician and educator to the post of Head of Jazz. The Department, a large and highly successful component of the Faculty of Music, comprises around 80 HE students and over 30 teaching staff. This key post is specifically responsible for leading the strategic development and operational management of the Department’s educational provision, including student recruitment; the design, delivery and development of the various learning opportunities; staff recruitment, management and development; concerts and events; and the development of initiatives and partnerships both within Trinity Laban and externally.
Educated to degree-level or equivalent, you will have extensive and proven music / music education leadership experience (ideally including team, budget and project management), outstanding communication and organisational abilities, an extensive professional network and performance profile, excellent IT skills and the capability to deal with a busy and varied workload, within a highly creative environment.
